She pulled out a week before the show, after thinking about it for a month. Then the promoter, desperatly looking for a wrestler who is in the Tampa area, but not already booked somewhere else, luckily found LuFisto?

LuFisto, who came back from a knee injury faster than expected.
LuFisto, whose long term booking plans probably are messed up by Kalamity's sudden departure.
LuFisto, a main event level star, who can continue her feud with Mercedes or start a new angle with one of the many top stars on the show, probably setting up something big for NCW Femmes Fatales.

So, is LuFisto in because Taylor Made is out or is Taylor Made out because LuFisto is in?

Followed by "We are looking for a suitable replacement, stay tuned!"
Followed by "We are negotiating with a really big star, keep your fingers crossed!"

The real reason why Taylor Made dropped out of the SHINE Championship Tournament, is because her tag-team partner Allysin Kay being banned from SHINE Wrestling until September.

Kayfabe aside, AK being absent is of course the reason. Taylor Made is the least experienced member of Valkyrie. Her role is just "AK's tag partner", while Rain and Ivelisse are those who go for the singles title.

So, while it would have been interesting to see her "shine on her own" in the tournament, I don't think anything like this was planned. She was probably just booked to fill the brackets. In contrast, LuFisto adds a lot to the tournament and may start something for future shows, either in SHINE or NCW-FF. So, giving Taylor's spot to LuFisto was a logical decision by the promoter.


My issues with this is more general. When it comes to card changes, or roster changes, it's a common behavior of promoters to announce "who's in" in big letters, while "who's out" is silently dropped. Doing this, they send the signal "it's no big deal." I don't think this is a wise move, since it adds insult to injury for the fans of this specific wrestler.
